Focus

Where does our focus lie? As a new organization operating in an adversarial landscape, this is one of the key questions we must answer.

For our team, we see a number of priority areas that will capture our attention. First and foremost, our team will continue their work within Bitcoin Core, providing critical review, maintenance and code contributions with a special, but not exclusive, focus on the wallet. The production of educational content will also carry on.

In the long tail, the Localhost Research team sees a strong necessity in rallying behind projects that resist concerning centralization pressures within the mining ecosystem and erosions of privacy across the network.

Building an in-person environment which supports these goals is a difficult task and will require coordination from many stakeholders in the community. It will take time, but we will get there.

As for the specific composition of our team, we plan to design it in such a way that we can collaborate on shared projects while supporting our mission. This point is fundamental to the Localhost vision: each contributor will be required to dedicate a portion of their time to group efforts while also working on their independent focus areas.

If you would like to engage with us in-person, we encourage you to join us at the San Fransisco LitDevs and BitDevs meetups which we will regularly co-moderate.
